A Legacy of Leadership: Sabino T. Rodano ’87

Rodano_lg.jpgFor Sabino T. Rodano ’87, MKA is more than a school; it is where he found his passion. “If I hadn’t attended MKA, I would have never played lacrosse,” Sabino recalls. That moment in eighth grade led to a lifelong connection. After serving on the Alumni Council for seven years, he spent 16 years coaching at MKA alongside the legendary Paul Edwards. Recently, Sabino returned to campus once again to lead the team as the boys’ lacrosse interim head coach.

Beyond the turf, MKA provided the foundation for both his career in sales and business as well as lifelong relationships. “The friendships I made here are my closest to this day, and Ms. Faden’s public speaking class gave me the confidence that has served me in every job I’ve ever held.” Sabino went on to graduate from Lafayette College in 1991 with a B.A. in economics and business.

Now Sabino is ensuring the next generation has those same opportunities. Through a bequest in his will, he has designated a portion of his estate to The Coach Edwards Cougar Athletic Fund. This endowment provides financial resources for student-athletes to cover essential expenses, ensuring that every student—regardless of their financial circumstances—can participate in team trips, access equipment and apparel packages, and fully experience MKA’s robust athletics program.

“Athletics were so important to me,” Sabino says. “If my donation helps even one student-athlete have the same opportunities I did, it’s worth it.”
